Animal Scientist in Nacogdoches, TX
DUTIES:
Conduct research in selection, breeding, nutrition, and management for a small and large animal veterinary hospital that services various horse and cattle ranches in East Texas. Specifically, job duties include the following: Perform research on animal genetics and nutrition, reproduction, parasite, and disease control, and environmental conditions to determine their effect on animal reproduction. Crossbreed animals to get new combinations of desirable characteristics. Identify diseases, causes for concern and recommend vaccinations. Conduct breeding soundness exams including estrus detection, pregnancy evaluation, dystocias, sample collection for laboratory work, artificial insemination, and postmortem exams. Assist veterinarian with surgery and dispose of waste matter properly.
